Selena Gomez, the 31-year-old singer and actress, has offered fans a fresh glimpse of her recent arm accessory. On Friday, she took to her Instagram Story to share two additional pictures of the cast she’s been sporting while recovering from a recent hand injury.
In the images, Gomez can be seen in an all-gray outfit, seated on a gray and white outdoor couch. One of the photos captures her looking away from the camera, while the other shows her gazing into the lens with a slight pout. Her new black cast is visible on one hand, contrasting with her gray attire and the outdoor furniture. She accessorized with a pink friendship bracelet on her other wrist.
These new photos follow Gomez’s recent appearance on the Ellen K Morning Show, during which she disclosed that, in addition to undergoing hand surgery, she broke her hand when she “tripped” over a long summer dress.
“I wish I had, like, a really cool story that I saved someone’s life or something,” Gomez remarked. “I was in a long dress — it was a summer dress — and I was walking from my car to my house and tripped.”
Ellen K, responding from a mother’s perspective, noted that it’s fortunate Gomez “didn’t break” her teeth. Gomez concurred, saying, “Yes, that’s what the doctor said. I guess there is a silver lining, but this is not fun. This is not fun.”
Gomez initially revealed her injury on Instagram when she commented on a fan account’s post promoting her new dance track, “Single Soon.”
“Broke my hand and had surgery,” she explained in response to fans promoting the song. “I don’t care about selling anything. I’m just happy to make music with my friends.”
Despite her hand injury, Gomez is not letting it hinder the release of her new music. “Single Soon,” produced by benny blanco and Cashmere Cat, is her first new music of 2023, following the success of her 2022 collaboration with Rema, “Calm Down,” which currently holds the No. 6 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Expressing her gratitude for the support, Gomez wrote on Instagram about “Single Soon,” stating, “It’s a playful anthem about being comfortable in your own skin and loving your own company… and it’s also really fun to dance to! 💞”
Gomez revealed to Ellen K that more music is on the way, and she’s content with the balance in her life, juggling family, Rare Beauty, and her music career. “I have great people around me, and I just feel really good,” she said. Regarding her new track, Gomez explained, “This technically isn’t the first single, but it is a song I’ve been holding onto for about six years. I wanted to release it, so we revamped it, basically, and I wanted it to be a fun, end-of-the-summer moment.”
