Leah Messer, known for her role on “Teen Mom,” has been a source of hope, grace, and faith in her journey as a mother. These themes also inspired the title of her 2020 memoir, which incorporated her daughters’ middle names and reflected her unwavering belief that things would ultimately turn out well.
Now, Leah Messer has tangible evidence that her confidence was justified. Nearly a decade after her 13-year-old daughter Aliannah was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of muscular dystrophy, Leah, who is also the mother of Ali’s twin sister Aleeah and 10-year-old Adalynn, shared in an exclusive interview that Ali has made significant progress, not only physically but also mentally.
The 31-year-old attributes Ali’s progress to her dedication to equine therapy, which has yielded positive results. Last year, they received the news that Ali’s physical strength had improved, and her weight and growth charts showed better results than ever before.
Leah expressed how horseback riding, an activity shared with her sisters, has given Ali a sense of purpose. Leah co-parents Ali and Aleeah with her ex-husband Corey Simms and Adalynn with her former spouse Jeremy Calvert. She also mentioned her joy in participating in this experience with her daughter.
In a recent episode of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,” Ali approached her mother with the idea of co-writing a book about her journey with muscular dystrophy. Leah expressed excitement about the project and mentioned how her own book, where she candidly discussed her past experiences, including sexual abuse and suicidal thoughts, had been a cathartic experience. Leah believes that Ali’s book will bring understanding to many other children who may not be familiar with muscular dystrophy or the concept that everyone is unique in their own way.
While much of Ali’s story remains unwritten, Leah remains optimistic and hopeful, determined to steer clear of worst-case scenarios she heard when Ali was younger. Muscular dystrophy is a degenerative progressive disease, and Leah acknowledges the uncertainty of the future. Nevertheless, she is committed to making the most of every moment, creating cherished memories, and believes that Ali will continue to defy the odds.
As for her own life, Leah is embracing new beginnings. Nearly a year after ending her engagement to army officer Jaylan Mobley, she is currently single and focusing on her personal and professional growth. When asked about the possibility of dating, Leah humorously replied that she doesn’t want any distractions at the moment and is dedicated to making money and raising her daughters.
Leah takes immense pride in her role as a mother and is excited about her daughters’ pursuits and interests. She sees herself as a better version of herself when she looks at her three girls and is grateful for the opportunity to support and be a part of their lives.
Reflecting on her past breakup, Leah acknowledges the lessons learned and believes that her life is just beginning. She is optimistic about her future and the new chapters that lie ahead.
