In a picturesque journey through the Utah desert, Keanu Reeves took the guest rider seat for the season premiere of “Ride With Norman Reedus.” The sixth season kicked off with an insightful and adventurous ride where the two renowned actors discussed various intriguing topics.
During their ride, Keanu Reeves shared some personal insights and reflections. He revealed that his fascination with motorcycles was sparked by witnessing what he fondly referred to as “biker gangs” cruising through his hometown of Yorkville in Toronto, Canada. “I just remember as a little kid, 11-year-old, going like, ‘freedom.’ It felt like freedom. It felt like alternative. It felt like power,” he reminisced. “Camaraderie, the whole thing.”
Delving into his Canadian roots, Reeves reminisced about his youth, where his sporting endeavors primarily revolved around billiards and hockey. He regaled a tale of a hockey fight he engaged in as a child. “It was a bit of a scrum and I got up and I swung, and I punched the guy in the head. Then other players came and then my defenseman came in, and then they were fighting,” Reeves recounted. “It was all very exciting.”
The conversation meandered to his participation in the 1986 hockey-themed drama “Youngblood,” which also featured the late Patrick Swayze. Reeves described Swayze as “a beautiful spirit. So sweet. Super committed. Enthusiastic.”
As they sped down the highway, one of Reeves’ most iconic film franchises, “The Matrix,” came into focus. Reflecting on the series, he noted, “The best sci-fi has something to say about who we are and what we are and what we’re doing. So much of it was just foresight into the world that we live in now and simulation, AI,” highlighting the prescient themes explored in “The Matrix” films. “All sorts of roads you could go down from ‘The Matrix’ to apply to the modern world,” he added.
When Reedus playfully pondered if their entire adventure in Utah might be part of a grand simulation, Reeves didn’t dismiss the idea. “That I can’t answer. But it’s already acknowledged that consciousness, the human brain, already has to tell a story to make this real,” he philosophically mused.
Their engaging conversation continued as they rode through the scenic landscape, providing a glimpse into the camaraderie and shared experiences of two celebrated actors and motorcycle enthusiasts. With laughter and camaraderie, they continued their journey, leaving behind a trail of memorable moments.
