Pink wishes she had never travelled to Bikini Bottom with the SpongeBob SquarePants song “We’ve Got Scurvy”.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Grammy-winning singer revealed which of her singles she considers to be her best and worst.
After revealing that ‘So What’ and ‘Get the Party Started’ are among her best songs, Pink named two tracks as her worst: 2012’s ‘True Love’ and ‘We’ve Got Scurvy’, which appeared on the 2009 compilation album ‘SpongeBob’s Greatest Hits’.
The singer-songwriter first responded with ‘Truth About Love’, featuring British artist Lily Allen, explaining that it’s a “mean” song about her relationship with Carey Hart.
Pink then recalled the SpongeBob track “We’ve Got Scurvy”, which contains lyrics about the disease often associated with the history of sailors and sea travel.
“Oh wait, I did that ‘SpongeBob’ thing – ‘We’ve Got Scurvy’,” Pink said of the single, which was written as a sea shanty and referenced her 2001 hit ‘Get the Party Started’. “I wish I had never done that. That was a real mistake.
“We’ve Got Scurvy” was featured in the “SpongeBob SquarePants” episode “Truth or Square”. Pink also made a music video for the single, in which she wore a pirate costume and appeared in a fish bowl and on a boat.
“Our gums are black. Our teeth are falling out. We’ve got spots on our backs, so give it up and shout,” the lyrics read. “We got scurvy. We need some vitamin C. We’ve got scurvy. We need a lemon tree.”
