Rapper and entertainment mogul Snoop Dogg will perform at the Baby2Baby Gala on 11 November in Los Angeles.
The glittering annual gala benefits the non-profit organisation, which provides care for children living in poverty.
In recognition of Snoop Dogg’s performance, Baby2Baby will provide nearly 300,000 essential items such as school supplies, hygiene products and sports equipment to children in two Snoop-supported organisations: the Snoop Youth Football and Basketball Leagues and Snoop Special Stars. These two organisations help inner-city children in Los Angeles participate in youth football, youth basketball and cheerleading.
Oscar nominee and Emmy winner Salma Hayek Pinault will receive the Giving Tree Award, which the organisation says is given to “a public figure who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to improving the lives of children in need around the world”. Hayek’s foundation supports organisations that help abused women and underprivileged children in Mexico.
Through the funds raised at the annual gala, Baby2Baby has distributed more than 350 million essential items to children in homeless shelters, foster homes and other underserved areas. This year’s event is sponsored by Paul Mitchell, City National Bank and Volvo USA.
Recent Baby2Baby efforts include building a nappy manufacturing system and sending cargo planes of emergency supplies to families affected by the Maui wildfires.
