Prime Day doesn’t officially kick off until 11 October, but the retailer has been slowly releasing early Prime Day deals – starting with its own subscription services such as Amazon Music and Audible.
Amazon Music Unlimited, which offers on-demand and ad-free access to more than 100 million songs, is free for three months in this limited-time Prime Day deal. The music streaming service, which also offers ad-free top podcasts, normally costs $10.99 per month, but is offering a free 30-day trial.
The limited-time offer comes after Amazon raised the price of its Amazon Music Unlimited plan earlier this year, making this year’s Prime Day promotion even more frugal than in previous years. In January, the e-commerce platform increased the price of the Amazon Music Unlimited individual plan for non-Prime members by $1 per month, from $9.99 to $10.99 per month. In addition, the Amazon Music Unlimited plan for students increased from $4.99 to $5.99 per month.
“To help us bring you even more content and features, we’re updating the prices of select Amazon Music Unlimited plans,” the e-commerce company said in a post on its support site, explaining the price changes.
The three-month deal also gives Spotify users a chance to try out the alternative music streaming service, which has become the go-to music streaming site for audiophiles. In particular, Amazon Music outperforms Spotify in terms of audio quality, offering higher fidelity tracks at no extra cost, allowing for a lossless listening experience that comes close to the quality of the original recording.
Amazon Music is also the best choice for those with Alexa devices, who can take advantage of a reduced fee. Once the three-month promotion is over, Alexa device owners can limit their streaming to a single Echo or Fire TV to bring the price down to $4/month – making the cost more than half the price of Spotify.
