The competition continued to heat up during the third week of Dancing With the Stars. Many of the couples took on their most challenging routines yet for Motown Night.
For some, it was all about improvement – and it was a little easier to get a higher score thanks to a fourth judge with no dance experience, Michael Strahan!
Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater, who struggled last week, came back ready to fight. He explained that he panicked on the floor last week because the new trailer for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills had just been released, highlighting the problems in his marriage to Kyle Richards. His children were in the audience, and since he hadn’t discussed it with them, he choked up.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had a mistake like that where I blacked out,” he said on Tuesday night.
The judges were much more impressed with his Foxtrot this week, scoring him a 23/40 – a big jump from last week’s 12/30.
This week also saw the first 9s of the season, courtesy of Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach and Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov.
Finally, Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson were eliminated.
