“The Challenge universe expands and thrives. Season 39 of the hit reality competition show, “The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion,” created by Bunim/Murray Productions, will premiere on MTV on Wednesday, 25 October at 8pm ET.
This season will feature 24 returning contestants, one of whom will be looking to take home their first win. As well as competing against each other, they’ll also face off against 10 rotating “Challenge” legends in weekly surprise eliminations. The veterans include last season’s winners Tori Deal and Devin Walker, Cara Maria Sorbello, who hasn’t been on the series since 2019’s War of the Worlds 2, and five-time champion CT Tamburello.
In the end, only one of the contenders can take home the win. There are many familiar faces in the field, including Olivia Kaiser, who suffered a shocking injury in Season 38, and Tula ‘Big T’ Fazakerley, who became a favourite in her last seasons of ‘War of the Worlds 2’, ‘Total Madness’, ‘Double Agents’ and ‘Spies, Lies and Allies’.
It’s been more than six months since a season of The Challenge aired on MTV. Season 38, titled “Ride or Dies”, ran from October 2022 to March 2023. “The Challenge: World Championship” aired on Paramount+. Season 2 of “The Challenge: USA” is currently airing on CBS.
Executive produced by Julie Pizzi, Emer Harkin, Dan Caster and Leanne Mucci, “The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion” will roll out globally across MTV’s international networks in over 165 countries. Fred Birckhead, Micah Kehoe-Thompson, Skye Topic and Irene Young are co-executive producers. TJ Lavin returns as host.
