HarbourView Equity Partners (HarbourView) has acquired a portion of Fleetwood Mac’s record royalties held by the estate of the late Christine McVie, as well as a portion of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo’s publishing and recorded music assets. The deal for both artists covers the entirety of their respective careers.
Benatar and Giraldo are credited with creating some of the most memorable rock hits of the 1980s, including “We Belong”, “Invincible”, “Love is a Battlefield”, “Promises In The Dark”, “We Live For Love”, “Heartbreaker” and “Hell Is For Children”. As a duo, they have two multi-platinum, five platinum and three gold albums, as well as nineteen Top 40 hits. They have sold over thirty million records worldwide and have won four consecutive Grammy Awards.
McVie, who died earlier this year at the age of 79 after a short illness, was a singer, musician and songwriter in Fleetwood Mac. Her pen and voice were behind singles such as ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Over My Head’, ‘Say You Love Me’, ‘Little Lies’ and ‘Everywhere’. Notably, her contributions to the band’s Grammy-winning album Rumours included ‘You Make Loving Fun’, ‘Don’t Stop’ and the piano ballad ‘Songbird’.
“We are fortunate and blessed that the estate of Christine McVie and the iconic Pat & Neil have chosen to partner with our firm,” said Sherrese Clarke Soares, founder of HarbourView. “We look forward to adding more and diverse repertoire to our catalogue. We take a long-term view of these assets and seek to be the forever owner, partnering with the artists and estates to cement their legacy.”
McVie’s estate was represented by her longtime attorney Mario Gonzalez and executors Paul Glass (McVie’s business manager) and Martin Wyatt (personal manager). Benatar and Giraldo were represented by Gary Gilbert of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. Financial terms of both McVie’s and Benatar and Giraldo’s transactions were not disclosed.
HarbourView’s portfolio includes thousands of tracks spanning numerous genres, eras and artists, representing a diversified catalogue of over 20,000 songs across both master recordings and publishing revenue streams.
