Britney Spears is planning to release a second volume of her hard-hitting memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2024, according to the pop singer.
Spears took to her Instagram to share a video of a man banging on a drum with a gavel-like instrument, along with a caption announcing the arrival of her second volume.
“Humour is the cure for everything!!! Keep playing !!!” she wrote in the caption. “Volume 2 will be out next year … get ready!”
However, sources close to Spears tell Variety there is no Vol. 2 in the works.
Spears’ The Woman in Me, which was released on 24 October, features several revelations from the pop icon, including Spears having an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake, Spears having wild sex with Colin Farrell, Justin Timberlake faking a “blaccent” in front of singer Ginuwine and Spears being forcibly hospitalised by her father after refusing to do more Las Vegas residency dates.
In the book, Spears expresses the caution she faced in asking for freedom from her conservatorship.
“My voice had been used for me and against me so many times that I was afraid no one would recognise it if I spoke freely now. What if they called me crazy? What if they said I was lying?” Spears wrote.
In a review for Variety, Stephen Rodrick described Spears’ memoir as a lesson in the way the media destroys young, successful women, writing: “Talk show hosts and paps have expressed regret for turning the princess of pop into a hunted animal and an object of scorn. We talk about how we have all learned our lesson. Don’t bet on it.
