Netflix has unveiled an explosive new trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” which will have a limited one-week theatrical release on December 15 and a wide streaming release on Netflix on December 22.
Snyder’s epic space adventure film stars Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman and Cary Elwes. The story centres on a young woman living on the edge of a galaxy who must find a group of warriors to save the galaxy from invasion by a tyrant. Snyder revealed to Total Film that “Rebel Moon” takes place in the same universe as another of his Netflix films, “Army of the Dead”, although one is set in outer space and the other in apocalyptic Las Vegas.
Snyder originally wrote a 172-page script for “Rebel Moon,” which he thought would be a three-hour-plus film. Netflix and Snyder agreed to split the film into two parts. Snyder has also revealed that a director’s cut of each part of “Rebel Moon” will be available, intended for adults only.
“I think for fans of mine and people who are willing to take a deeper, harder dive, it’s going to be fun for them,” Snyder told Vanity Fair.
Before it hits Netflix, “Rebel Moon” will play in theatres in the following cities: Los Angeles (Egyptian Theatre), New York City (Paris Theatre), Toronto (TIFF Bell Lightbox) and London (Prince Charles Cinema). Netflix owns the Paris Theatre and the Egyptian Theatre.
