Mirror, the Hong Kong boy band that shot to fame in 2018 but had their live career cut short by a tragic on-stage incident, will return to live performances in person in January.
The 12-member band will play 16 shows at the Asia World Expo Auditorium, one of the largest venues in Hong Kong, as part of their ‘Mirror Feel the Passion Concert Tour 2024’.
They will perform on 15-17, 19-22, 24-27, 29-31 and 2-3 February 2024, with the event reportedly serving as a replacement for the cancelled concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum in July 2022. Ticketing details have yet to be finalised.
The group’s Mirror We Are tour was disrupted when a giant LED screen fell from the ceiling above the stage where Mirror were performing. Two dancers were injured, one seriously.
The Hong Kong government has since prosecuted several companies and individuals involved in the organisation of the concert and amended its regulations on suspended stage equipment.
The incident, which was caught on video, traumatised many fans at a time when Mirror had been credited with reviving the Cantopop (Cantonese-language popular music) industry, challenging K-Pop and rejuvenating a sense of hope in Hong Kong, where a year of political and social turmoil had preceded a heavy-handed and painfully long series of COVID restrictions.
The band, who emerged from the talent competition “Good Night Show – King Maker”, have also launched several solo careers in music, film and television. Together, Mirror released their first English language single “Rumours” earlier this year.
