Reid Scott has been cast as a series regular in season 23 of “Law & Order”.
Exact details of the character Scott will be playing are being kept under wraps, other than the fact that he will be portraying an NYPD detective.
The news comes a week after it was announced that Jeffrey Donovan would not be returning for the new season of the long-running (and recently revived) procedural. Donovan began portraying Det. Frank Cosgrove on the show when it returned for season 21 in 2022.
Scott is best known for playing Dan Egan in HBO’s hit political comedy series “Veep,” which he starred in throughout the show’s seven-season run on the premium cabler. His other recent TV credits include American Horror Stories, The Afterparty, Curb Your Enthusiasm and two seasons of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. On the film side, he starred in and executive produced the pandemic comedy ‘Who Invited Charlie’ and has appeared in other films including ‘Venom’ and its sequel, ‘Wildflower’, ‘The Veil’ and ‘Late Night’.
He is repped by Gersh, Impression Entertainment and Goodman Genow.
“Law & Order” Season 23, which is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment, is set to debut on NBC on January 18 and stream on Peacock the following day. The show, along with every other scripted series on the network, had its production schedule severely impacted by the writers’ and actors’ strike that shut down much of Hollywood for months and was only recently resolved. As a result, Law & Order and other scripted shows will return for abbreviated 13-episode seasons to complete the typical broadcast season before the summer.
