SF Studios has unveiled the trailer for its animated film and TV series based on Arnie Alligator, one of the most popular children’s brands in the Nordics with 150 million views on Youtube.
SF Studios is producing the animated film and TV series with See You Later! and will release the film in the Nordics early next year. Both the film and the series will be directed by Finnish director Jenny Jokela (“Barbeque”) from a script by Fabian Nordlander.
Arne Alligator was created in 2003 as a song by the band The Jungle Drum and became a viral hit when the band’s music videos went viral on YouTube and Spotify. It is the most streamed children’s music band in the Nordic countries. SF Studios invested in the IP rights for Arnie Alligator, which are still controlled by See You Later! and jointly owned by creator Marcus Granberg and co-owner Anton Molander.
“It’s fantastic that so many fans like our beloved Alligator and his jungle friends and want to return to our videos on and it feels fantastic that Arnie Alligator will now be brought to the big screen, becoming a TV series and getting the chance to reach an even bigger audience,” said Granberg.
The feature film and TV series are based on the characters from the music videos, concerts and books. The story follows Arnie and his friends on their adventures in the jungle, on the river and in the city.
“Now it’s time to dive deeper into Arnie’s adventures with his fantastic friends,” said Molander, adding that the company’s goal was “to create a film and TV series that our own children and future grandchildren will want to watch, where the values are good, universal and timeless.
Filippa Torstensson, who is producing the film and TV series at SF Studios, said: “We are thrilled to have created a film and TV series from the most popular Nordic children’s brand on Youtube and are very excited to bring the wonderful Arnie Alligator to the cinema, where we hope to attract many young viewers and their families.
The film will be released in cinemas in Sweden and Finland on 9 February and in Denmark on 11 April. The film will also be released on home entertainment in Norway, followed by a TV series release in the Nordics.
