After its debut season, Paramount+ has chosen not to pursue a second season for the supernatural series “Wolf Pack,” as confirmed by Variety.
Based on Edo Van Belkom’s book series and created by Jeff Davis, the show revolves around two teenagers whose lives take a supernatural turn following a California wildfire. The first season, which aired in January 2023, coincided with the release of the “Teen Wolf” movie. The cast featured notable names such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, and Tyler Lawrence Gray.
Sources reveal that Paramount had anticipated audience growth between the first and second seasons. However, due to the dual Hollywood strikes, this expectation was thwarted as production was halted, impacting the series’ ability to build on its initial viewership. Season 2, if greenlit, would have arrived approximately two years after the debut of Season 1.
“Wolf Pack” joins the ranks of canceled Paramount+ originals, following the conclusion of “Joe Pickett” after two seasons in October 2023. Other cancellations from the previous year include “iCarly,” “The Game,” “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” “Star Trek: Prodigy,” “Queen of the Universe,” “Seal Team,” “Fatal Attraction,” and “Rabbit Hole.” Despite these cancellations, Paramount+ continues to offer a diverse slate that includes upcoming seasons of titles like “Tulsa King,” “School Spirits,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” and “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” Production for “Lawmen” and “Special Ops: Lioness” is pending renewal decisions.
Jeff Davis, who created and wrote “Wolf Pack,” served as an executive producer under his multi-year deal with MTV Entertainment Studios. Joe Genier and Mike Ellior also executive produced through Capital Arts, with Jason Ensler joining as an additional executive producer.
