The latest episode of “Ghosts” unveiled a significant development that promises to shake up the dynamics of the show, particularly concerning Jay’s interactions with the spectral residents. In Season 3, Episode 2 titled “Man of Your Dreams,” viewers were introduced to a pivotal aspect of Sasappis’ (portrayed by Román Zaragoza) ghostly abilities: the power to infiltrate the dreams of the living.
In this episode, Jay, portrayed by Utkarsh Ambudkar, endeavors to keep his newly acquired television to himself, hoping to avoid the ghosts’ less-than-stellar programming. However, Sasappis clandestinely employs his newfound ability to sway Jay’s decision, ultimately succeeding in influencing him. As Sasappis delves deeper into manipulating Jay’s dreams, their relationship takes on new dimensions, leading Jay to uncover the truth.
Wiseman expressed how the dream sequences allowed for the exploration of fresh settings and enabled the ghost characters to step out of their usual attire, a departure from the costumes they perished in.
“The dream setup offers Jay and Sasappis avenues for meaningful and entertaining interactions,” Wiseman explained. “Moreover, it provided us with the chance to introduce new environments, such as a spaceship and a basketball court. This not only adds to the entertainment value but also invigorates the actors, especially the ghosts, who typically find themselves confined to a single location in their regular attire.”
In the Season 3 premiere, the characters, along with Sam (played by Rose McIver) and Jay, unravel the mystery surrounding Flower’s (portrayed by Sheila Carrasco) disappearance in the Season 2 finale. Episode 2 teases the possibility of the group conducting a seance to locate Flower or potentially restore her.
“We’ll witness their attempt to bring her back, although success is not guaranteed,” noted executive producer Joe Port, hinting at the uncertainty surrounding Flower’s fate.
The ongoing enigma of Flower’s whereabouts and the nature of being “sucked off” will continue to be explored throughout the season. According to Wiseman, this process holds significance for the ghosts, fueling their aspirations and sparking intrigue among them.
Additionally, the producers teased forthcoming revelations about the ghosts’ powers and histories, including the circumstances of another ghost’s demise, possibly Hetty (portrayed by Rebecca Wisocky) or Sasappis. Meanwhile, Jay’s ambition to establish a restaurant at the bed and breakfast adds another layer of intrigue. A subplot involving Pete (portrayed by Richie Moriarty) remains under wraps, as does the impending wedding between Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) and Nigel (John Hartman), scheduled for the season finale.
