Jools Oliver, known for being a mother of five and the wife of chef Jamie Oliver, is embarking on a new chapter at the age of 49: she’s training to become a midwife.
Having raised five children over the past two decades and approaching a milestone birthday, Jools is proving that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. She recently revealed that she was encouraged to start her midwifery course two years ago, with friends and family rallying behind her decision, affirming that this is the perfect time to make such a meaningful career shift.
In a candid interview, the former model expressed her deep passion for delivering babies, stating, “Ideally, I’d like to I think I just want to hold newborn babies left, right and centre. It’s the dream job, catching newborn babies.” Reflecting on her past choices, Jools admitted to regretting choosing modeling over midwifery when she was younger, emphasizing that becoming a midwife would have been her ideal career path.
Despite the challenges she’s faced, including the desire for another child leading to IVF attempts and the heartbreaking experience of five miscarriages while trying for a fifth child, Jools remains resolute in her goal. She acknowledged feeling guilt over her miscarriages, fearing judgement due to already having four children.
To achieve her dream of becoming a midwife, Jools will need to complete a degree in midwifery at a university or pursue a midwifery degree apprenticeship. Her journey serves as an inspiring example of determination and the pursuit of lifelong aspirations.
